Brian grew up in Christiansburg and is a graduate of Christiansburg High School. He met his wife, Danielle, in Harrisonburg, VA after they both graduated from JMU. Brian sensed a call to ministry after working in landscaping and mortgages for several years in the Shenandoah Valley. Brian attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte and received his M.Div. in May of 2008 before moving back to the New River Valley to serve as Associate Pastor of Grace Covenant PCA in Blacksburg, VA. After four years, it became clear that the Lord was calling Grace Covenant to plant a church in Christiansburg with Brian serving as pastor. Brian and Danielle have four children who all enjoy spending time on the Huckleberry trail, going to the library, and getting ice cream.
On March 1, 2015 Providence Presbyterian was organized as a “particular” church of the Blue Ridge Presbytery meaning our church now has its own elders and deacons elected by our congregation. The ruling elders of Providence are Jay Tovey and Kevin Gilbarte. Serving as deacons are Mike Brizendine, Jimmy Holland, John Ohanian, and Javier Schloemann.
