At Providence, we minister primarily through the means of grace God gives His church, which are the WordSacraments, and Prayer. These in turn are reinforced throughout the week with discipleship, fellowship, and care. Each of the ministries below is meant to reflect these means of grace.

Community Groups. Beginning each September, several small groups form to meet in evenings for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship in various homes around our community.

Prayer. Praying for each other is a very important ministry for the church family. Prayer requests may be submitted to the Providence-talk email list, to the pastor, dropped in the offering plate, or voiced during the prayer time of our worship service.

Youth Ministry. We encourage youth and children to become fully involved in the life of the church. In addition to Sunday morning classes, we have various studies and events throughout the year to encourage and disciple our youth.

Special Events. A variety of events and parties are held through the year to promote fellowship and introduce visitors to the family life of our church.

Involvement in local and global ministry. As a church and and as individual members we are involved in many avenues of ministry that include:

  • Ministry at local nursing homes and assisted-living facilities including an afternoon worship service at The Crossings on the 3rd Sunday of each month
  • Support of the Mont Co Emergency Assistance Program
  • Tutoring and volunteering in local schools
  • Foster Care and Advocacy
  • The Pregnancy Resource Center of the NRV
  • The Spiritual Roots Food Bank
  • Young Life of the NRV
  • Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at Virginia Tech
  • Support of Regional Church Planting through the work of the Blue Ridge Presbytery
  • Support of international missions and agencies including works in Mexico, Japan, Gambia, Ethiopia, and the Caribbean
